We enjoyed doing the show in Ovington Village Hall last night. The village allotments are right next to the hall and looked lovely in the early evening light. Apparently Ovington is known as the greenest village in Norfolk thanks to its many wind turbines and solar panels.
It was a jolly show despite the fact I had a bit of a frog in my throat – not literally as that would be disgusting. Friend-of-the-show and BBC Radio 4 Gardeners’ Question Time favourite Bob Flowerdew came, which was exciting. Hopefully he enjoyed the all-singing, all-dancing version of our GQT song and our song about organic gardening, seeing as he’s an organic gardening guru.
We were treated to 5 star hospitality by our hosts Lyndia and Chris. Chris has TWO allotments having down-sized from THREE.
Tonight we’re doing the show in the village of Wood Norton. According to the village’s Wikipedia entry it was the home of botanist, translator and author Benjamin Stillingfleet, said to be the original Blue Stocking.
