Allotment makeover

Big news on my allotment: I have painted my shed. Recently I put a new roof on it and now I have painted it blue. It may not be the smartest shed on the allotment (the doors don’t close properly and it is a bit rickety) but it is certainly the prettiest and that’s important.

Oh My Gourd

Dan and I are having a gourd growing competition although I appear to have fallen at the first hurdle as none of my seeds have germinated. So far it is Dan: 4 and Jo: 0. We’re growing (or trying to grow) canteen gourds, which our friend Flatfoot Johnny will make into banjos and ukuleles. […]

First New Potatoes

According to a gardening book I once read, there’s a friendly competition on allotment sites to see who can get the first new potatoes of the year.

Presumably they’re not literally […]

Shock breaking news! The Prime Minister says something sensible

Concerned readers of Dan’s allotment blog (and his readers do rapidly become deeply concerned) will have read the reports that the government was planning to scrap local authorities’ obligation to provide allotments. This would presumably have meant the land would be sold off to Tesco, so we’d all be forced to buy our vegetables […]

Hello! Hello. Good to see you. This is the website of the vegetable-cultivation-based comedy song album and live show, Can You Dig It?

This is the first blog entry, which traditionally doesn’t contain any sensible information. In future posts, Jo and Dan will be chatting about their allotments, giving gardening tips, and telling you […]
